The One Act Play is…

Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind – 30 plays in 60 minutes. Please see the Too Much Light page for more information, including a sample from the script,  and come see me if you have any questions.

Auditions are August 17, 18 and 19. There is a sign-up sheet on the drama room door. You should prepare a comedic monologue. If you plan on auditioning and were not at the auditioning workshop, please read the following: Auditioning dos and dontsAudition Tips

Performances are October 1 and 3. The Regional competition is October 17.

One Act Auditions

Auditions for the one act will be on August 17, 18 and 19, after school. There will be a sign-up sheet on the drama room door.

There will also be an auditioning workshop on August 11, from 4 to 5:30.

I will know by Monday, August 10 what the one act will be. It may be a drama, it may be a comedy, so I can’t tell you yet what kind of a monologue to start working on.

Audition Workshop

The audition workshop will be postponed to Tuesday, August 11, from 4:00 to 5:30. Auditions for the one act will be the next week. And yes, I’m still trying to figure out the one act.

The Musical!

This year’s musical will be The Music Man. Sorry, just kidding. It will be Monty Python’s Spamalot. There is a fair amount of gender flexibility in casting. King Arthur will be a man, and the Lady of the Lake needs to be a woman, but other roles, like Sir Robin and even Lancelot could be played by a woman. Casting will be based mainly on auditions and who we think can best play each role, regardless of gender.

The performances are February 18, 19 and 20. All cast and crew must be available the weekend of Feb 13 and the two days we have off from school (including President’s Day). I’ll post information about auditions as soon as Ms. Potter and I figure out the time – probably in late September or October.

And no, I still don’t know what the one act will be. I’m having a few technical difficulties with it. Stay tuned!

One Act Possibility

very still & hard to see

It’s a very eerie play about making a deal with a devil and the long term consequences that ensue. I like that it allows for some very striking movement and stage pictures. We could also add on-stage drummers playing Japanese style drums for scene changes and sound effects: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBmybt13Jlk

As written, it is for 4 men and 4 women, but that is with double casting. We could have anywhere from 8 to 20 cast members.

Ask me for a script if you would like to read it.

As of now, I think the strongest candidates – and the ones the best fit our talent – are Women of Lockerbie, Too Much Light (30 plays in 60 minutes) and very still. I still have quite a few more plays to read and we will have at least one read through during the summer. If you have any suggestions for the one act, please let me know. I would prefer anything we do to have at least 5 roles for women.

Much Ado About Nothing!

Come join the hottest disco party of the year as McIntosh Theater presents Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Set in Wild Willie’s Disco, the production features 70’s costumes and classic hits from the disco era.

Performances are May 1st at 7:00 pm and May 2nd at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved by emailing info@mcintoshtheater.org.

Much Ado Cast

Thank you to everyone who auditioned. There was a lot of talent and unfortunately a limited number of roles available.  We’ll have a read-through on Monday from 4-6. I’m very excited to get started – we have one heck of a cast!
